JLU ATLANTIS: THANATOS

Thanatos originally appeared when Aquaman was knocked out, during which he plagued Aquaman's dreams.Later when Aquaman's wife Mera who had grown insane left this dimension he brought her to Netherspace where she grew to believe he was in fact her husband alongside making her believe Arthur Jr. was their son. Eventually Mera managed to escape the dimension when she began viewing the real Aquaman through a device, and confronted him while he was with Dolphin. Soon after Thanatos forced her back, but Aquaman and Dolphin ultimately followed.

When he arrived Thanatos began his attempts to kill him, through the use of a guillotine, dinosaur and ultimately challenged him to mortal combat in a Roman Coliseum. Aquaman ultimately defeats his foe, but chose to spare his life which drew the attention of the rulers of the Netherspace The Others, who granted Thanatos absolution for being pure evil and sentenced Aquaman to life in purgatory for his mercy alongside Dolphin, Mera and Arthur Jr.

Thanatos then returned to this dimension heading towards Atlantis in a bid to assumes Arthur's position of king, only to find the city had ultimately been deserted. Filled with anger he sent a message to the surface world declaring all out war on them, however as he leaves the city he is killed by Major Disaster who believes him to be the true Aquaman.
