In the pre-Crisis universe of Earth-2, a serene community accessible through a portal in a forest in the United States. Happy Shamrock Land was first populated in the fifteenth century when a ship from Ireland landed in North America accompanied by fairies and leprechauns. As time passed, the leprechauns set up a vast network of tunnels beneath the forest, where they made golden shoes for the fairies. Exits in the tunnel opened into Shamrock Land itself, a kingdom that was magically cloaked from outsiders by the fairies’ Queen Moonbeam and may have existed in another dimension. By 1945, Shamrock Land was ruled by the beautiful Queen Elaine while leprechauns including Shaggy, Hoppy, and Woggle happily worked underground. Wonder Woman discovered the existence of Shamrock Land when she, Steve Trevor, and Etta Candy fell into the leprechauns’ underground caverns during their pursuit of the vicious Gentleman Killer. After the rogue exited into the hidden kingdom, the Amazing Amazon and her friends followed him there and thwarted his seduction and enslavement of Queen Elaine while shoring up the monarch’s romance with Timothy O’Rourke. Afterward, Queen Moonbeam magically transported all of the outsiders back to the Redwood Forest with only dim, fading memories of their visit.
